The difficulty of in camera editing is to imagine and direct the cutting points of each scene being filmed as you film them so that the film as it stands in camera is already edited. This throws up a number of challenges, such as the need to time the beginnings and ends of recordings perfectly, the need to design the action at the end of one recording clip flowing seamlessly into the action of the next clip faultlessly.
The meaning of the sequence created was meant to be a media class in progress and finishing, showing a student film others in a camera exercise. I feel that I have not given this as much meaning as intended. The meaning is sustained throughout the shot however it is difficult to get a sense of narrative. Each shot has been timed effectively but the last shot is cut much to early thus being timed very poorly. The shots cut together well and gives you a sense of the space around and feels fairly fluent. This sequence as a whole has an effective rhythm, running well apart from the odd late/early cut. I am most pleased with the composition within the short. everything is regularly using the rule of thirds whilst keeping all the action in frame. Shot sizes in this make sense and are vary, which keep the viewers interested. The key area for improvement is the length of shots and I shall be carefull to leave some running time to avoid shots being too short.
